The 1907 Southern Union Baseball season was the thirteenth season of professional baseball within the Southern Union. It was the first time the Houtmansland Topklasse Divisie consisted of 8 teams with the introduction of SAE Zwingelspaan and Atletisch Bath. It was also the first professional season for Spartans of Martletwy in Ianoia, having replaced Donyatt-Burstwick who lost their membership status in the I-League after being voted out of the competition at the end of last season.

At the end of this season, Hamnområde BK in Division Ett and Druten Stadt SV 91 in Baseball Meisterschaft were voted out by their peers, replaced by Glenton Kullar BbK and Käseplatz SSV in the 1908 baseball season respectively.

After an 8-1-1 start to the year, Omfattandestad BoIS were rarely troubled on their way to repeat as champions and clinch their 6th Super Ligan title. The reigning champions held top spot for the entirety of the season, and despite a strong surge from BK Humoor 1893 who finished second time for the first time in their history and only 3 points behind, Omfattandestad were never in doubt to retain the title.

BF Oberoendestad matched their best ever finish by improving on their 9th place last year to finish a respectable 3rd despite two consecutive losses making the league table look closer than it actually was with Vizhune IS who languished in 8th at the midpoint of the season.

BK Embleton replaced manager Jesse Wallin with Sebastian Mehler during the season as they changed their approach from defence to heavy offense. The change paid dividends as the club finished 6th having narrowly avoided relegation last year. They beat out perennial yo-yo club BK Salau who achieved 7th upon their return to the Super Ligan following promotion from Division Ett in the 1906 baseball season.

Portlethen Måndag GK maintained their Super Ligan status by finishing 10th despite the distraction of owner Hugo Puljujarvi selling the team at start of 1907 to Alfred Nordenberg. Unlike Nordenberg, Puljujarvi was disliked in the city for his constant interfering of team affairs and the change in ownership was looked at favourably amongst the fans who felt stability was what was needed. Portlethen were last in June before climbing out of the drop zone with just 8 games remaining, where they eventually finished.

Bryankeld Förenta BK was relegated after a 6-year stay in the top tier, which included a phenomenal 2nd place finish in 1906. They joined Nyhaven who made an immediate return to Division Ett after a disrupted season with illnesses sweeping through the team staff.

For the first time in three years neither of the relegated teams finished in the top two spots of Division Ett as 1890 Ängelar SK and IF Blidområde both won promotion to the Super Ligan for the first time ever. Predicted to finish 2nd, 1890 Ängelar SK moved to the top of the table after 27 games following a 7-5 away victory over Centurio Conneaut where they remained for the rest of the season. IF Blidområde were in a tough battle with Körsbärstad IF for the last promotion spot and didn’t hold 2nd place permanently until the 45th game of the year when Körsbärstad IF eventually starting slumping to finish 4th. BK Randia finished 3rd, jumping above Körsbärstad on the final day with a 6-2 win over Rovaniemi Förenta; it was BK Randia’s best ever finish having only been re-elected the previous season.

SK Ryttare finished 5th, continuing their downward trend after finishing 4th last season and 3rd in the 1905 baseball season. They placed above both Centurio Conneaut and Jordnot Kanjon BK who dropped down from the Super Ligan, with the latter keeping up with the early pacesetters before 9 draws in the back-half of the campaign scuppered any chances of an immediate return to the top flight.

IK Förenta Saffron stumbled to 8th on the table with their home record of 16-2-21 hurting them regularly throughout the year, although Rovaniemi Förenta faired little better, finishing 8 points further back in 9th.

At the bottom of the table, Prestons-Grenada finished last for the second time in three years, just behind Hamnområde BK who had improved dramatically last year to finish 5th. In a cruel twist to their already historically worst season, Hamnområde were voted out of the league in favour of Glenton Kullar BbK

After finishing as runners-up in both 1903 and the 1904 baseball season, BV Küstestadt lifted the Baseball Meisterschaft trophy for the first time, setting the second highest points in a season in the process. They held off Rasensport Sorgenfrei who finished 2nd with three games to spare after BV Küstestadt scored two runs in the bottom of the 9th to fend off Uelzenia Hüll 6-4 as Rasensport succumbed to Tapfer Concordia BV 4-2 at home.

SG 1632 Schönheit finished 3rd ahead of Tapfer Concordia BV who had their best ever finish since turning professional in 1904, moving ahead of Fortuna Juemen with their victory over Rasensport Sorgenfrei. In what proved to be a topsy-turvy season throughout the standings, Mächtstadt VfL placed 8th having been up for re-election last year whilst Blau-Weiss Ruigoord had their worst ever finish in 9th with 13 draws complicating things during a difficult season. Gelb Kekerdom TuS faired little better, coming in 10th for the worst final position by a defending champion in Baseball Meisterschaft history; they started the year 2-1-8.

At the bottom, Hafenstadt BV’s heavily disliked owner Gregor Scholz sold the team to Milan Gottwalder who had a growing reputation in the city of Shoof of being selfish with money. In a sign of things to come perhaps, Die Piraten finished 15th for their worst ever finish, but did manage to get re-elected for another season. The same could not be said of Druten Stadt SV 91 who were finally voted out of the league with other member clubs growing weary of constant bad performances by the team after 6 last-place finishes in 8 years. They were replaced by Käseplatz SSV.

In a season for the ages, McCutchen City toppled the Blenkinsopp Town dominance to become the first team since the 1902 baseball season clinch the I-League title other than B-Town; winning their first ever title in the process. Trailing Blenkinsopp Town by 3 points with 3 games to spare, it looked set to be another Bulls title, even despite the fact they two teams faced each other in Blenkinsopp in the final weekend of games. In the reverse fixture, the two teams shared the spoils, each winning a game and drawing the last but unbelievably McCutchen City won all three remaining games to stun the Blenkinsopp crowds in attendance for all three games.

Oldstead Irish finished 4 points further back in 3rd, but were never realistically competing for the title, nor bothered by the chasing pack which was headed by Byfleet Hawks. Juniors tied with the Hawks on 72 points in 5th, leap-frogging Racing Welford on the final weekend.

Spartans of Martletwy – newcomers to the league – finished a respectable 9th, ten points behind Tyrant-Ilford, but did need 7 games before picking up their first points in history, a 5-3 victory over Byfleet Hawks after going 0-0-6 to start the year.

Athletic Ivychurch, Sporting Cuckney and Ulcombe United finished 10th, 11th and 12th respectively, all tied on 44 points. Sporting Cuckney languished in last place for the majority of the year, but an 8-4 victory over Racing Welford saw them move ahead of Ulcombe United on the final day after they fell 7-6 to Oldstead Irish. Ulcombe United, having never finished last in their history, were dually re-elected for the 1908 baseball season.

With the league expanding to 8 teams following the introduction of Atletisch Bath and SAE Zwingelspaan, the number of games for each team reduced from 60 down to 42 with a month-long winter break splitting the competition in half. The break mattered little in the end, with KBO Armweide clinching their second title and first since the 1904 baseball season. Having predicted to finish 2nd, KBO Armweide were rarely troubled, leading the competition by 8 points during the winter break, ahead of SHC Koedijk, Bos Aan Zee and newcomers Atletisch Bath who were all tied on 23.

HHV – predicted winners at the start of the season – struggled all year to get going, eventually finishing 4th behind SHC Koedijk who bounced back from two last-placed finishes to play above 500-ball for the first time since the inaugural 1902 baseball season.Eikenheuvel HC surprised no one by camping out in mid-table for much of the year, where they eventually finished.

The new teams of Atletisch Bath and SAE Zwingelspaan had wildly different seasons, with the latter rooted to the foot of the table from Gameday 15 onwards after RKC Mesch found form and moved off bottom spot. Atletisch, on the other hand, won 10 times in the opening half of the year, but could only add 4 more in the back half to collapse to a 7th place finish, 1 point behind RKC Mesch.
