Idrotts Förbund Blidområde (Sporting Federation Blidområde in English), more commonly known as IF Blidområde, is a sports club located in the city of Blidområde, Eveleigh, Koana Islands.

Kjell Melberg founded the club in 1885 with the aim of providing a space for the community to engage in various sports activities. The club offered opportunities for swimming, polo, golf, and athletics, attracting participants from the local area. In 1891, the club decided to expand its offerings and introduced baseball as a new sport. As a result, they joined the Eveleigh Basebollskonferensen – a league contested by teams within Eveleigh – in 1893, and displayed a competitive performance by consistently finishing in second place over the three years of the league’s existence. Building on their success, the club organized exhibition games across the mainland to showcase their skills once the league collapsed. Recognizing their achievements and commitment to the sport, the club became a member of the Nationella Basebolligan in 1897, further solidifying their presence in the baseball community.

In 1908, IF Blidområde played in the Super Ligan for the first time, having finished as runners-up in Division Ett the year before. The club found the step up to be too difficult to overcome, and were promptly relegated at the end of the season.

During the early years of the club’s existence, local newspapers occasionally referred to the sports organization as the “Spartans.” However, it is important to note that this title was never officially embraced or adopted by the club itself. While the “Spartans” moniker may have been used informally, it did not gain traction or become an integral part of the club’s identity. Kjell Melberg’s affinity for nature and his fondness for the club helped to give rise to the nickname, “Det Vilda,” which means “The Wild”.

Brandvägen Grunder, the home ground of the club, is situated to the east of the central business district in the picturesque surroundings of Fridhemsplan. Established with a vision to cater to Kjell Melberg’s passion for running and athletic prowess, Brandvägen Grunder has earned a reputation with its expansive outfield, which provides ample space for thrilling base-running action. The vast dimensions of the outfield contribute to a higher frequency of doubles and triples during games, making this a pitcher-friendly ballpark.
