The 1901 Southern Union Baseball season was the seventh season of professional baseball amongst the seven members of the Union and the last year before the start of the Topklasse Divisie in Houtmansland.
Körsbärstad clinched their first Super Ligan title after finishing runners-up in both 1895 and 1898 behind Vizhune. They can consider themselves fortunate they clung on for the title, dropping two of their last three games to Thomassmåstad and relying on BK Salau – already relegated – to take two of the three games over fierce cross-town rivals and defending Champions, Omfattandestad.
BK Salau’s relegation put them in the history books as the first team to be relegated straight back down to Division Ett, having secured promotion the year before. Oberoendestad survived quite comfortably in the end, finishing 9th, ahead of a slumping Thomassmåstad who had finished 7th the year before.

Uckford Gemenskap came in third; four games behind despite a strong finish to the season whilst Sandford Stad and Portlethen Måndag GK both finished with 49 wins in 4th and 5th.

In an almost carbon copy of the Super Ligan in Koana Islands, Ducibus held a slender 1-game advantage going into the final weekend of games, with the Die Monarchen facing off against fierce cross-town rivals Hafenstadt BV. After winning the first two games 6-1 and 5-2, they then lost the final game of the season, 11-3. Fortunately, Fortuna Juemen – having won their first two games on Friday and Saturday – proceeded to lose 12-5 to Viktoria Grosstadt SV, handing Ducibus BV their first league title.
BV Küstestadt had a season to forget as the standings didn’t change much from the previous season. Druten Stadt SV finished last once again, winning just 16 games all season and giving up a whopping 424 runs in the process.

At the completion of the season, the owners agreed to expand the competition to 16 teams, in an effort to keep up with the financial might of the Super Ligan. Whilst teams and locations were yet to be discussed or voted on, it was agreed the league would be expanded at the end of the 1903 season – two years on from the Annual Meeting.
After missing out on the title by head-to-head record last season, Oldstead Irish had no difficulty this season, clinching their first title and finishing 5 games clear of defending Champions, Athletic Ivychurch.
Tyrant-Ilford finished third, three games above .500 after going 27-27 last season whilst Byfleet slipped slightly from 4th last season to 6th this year. Chatteris United – wooden spoon holders with just 17 wins last year – went backwards, picking up just 10 wins and finishing with the worst Win Percentage in all Southern Union professional baseball.
