The 1896 Super Ligan season was the second year of professional baseball within the Koana Islands. The season commenced on the 3rd of April 1896 with the final games being played on the 2nd of August 1896. The clubs competing were the 10 original clubs which were the founders of the league the previous year.

Omfattandestad BoIS claimed their first league title on the 31st of July at rivals Ny Aucklanda IF with two games to spare to eventually finish 4 games ahead of Uckford Gemenskap and Nyhaven SK. Despite being forecast to finish a lowly 9th with a 22-32 record, the Omfattandestad BoIS led the league for much of the year before a string of bad results beginning in late-May saw them win just one game in 7 to see their early advantage in the standings disappear with Nyhaven SK and Körsbärstad IF tying them 18-14 in the standings following an 8-5 loss to AIF Thomassmåstad that day.
Uckford Gemenskap were also much improved over their dismal 1895 season where a 19-35 was enough for last place. The final standings flattered them somewhat after only securing second-place on the final day. Nyhaven SK and Körsbärstad IF will possibly rue what could’ve been, with the latter keeping pace with the eventual champions for most of June.
It was another season of misery for Ny Aucklanda, dropping from 9th last season down to the last this season despite finishing with another 21-33 record. Pitching was what prevented the Warlocks from winning many games which included an 8 game losing streak in the middle of May.

Prior to the vote at the AGM, Oberoendestad owner Peter Strömberg announced his intentions to remove his club from the Super Ligan and instead would explore other avenues of profit-making.
It seems to me that the Super Ligan as a profit-making business is not sustainable. Whilst a competition between clubs is something I wish to see and be a part of, I believe the [Super Ligan] to be doomed to failure.

With one less team to vote on, Vizhune IS had 23 successful votes and retained their Super Ligan status, whilst Ny Aucklanda IF failed to garner more than 5 votes and finished last, along with Jordnot Kanyon BK and therefore were voted out of the league. Ny Aucklanda owner Mattis Schiele didn’t hold back when the votes were counted, quoted as saying in the AGM minutes:
How can my club be removed when we have teams such as Vizhune IS with a far bigger budget than us also within the vote?

Schiele also went public, talking to the Koanian Dagbladet newspaper in the days after the vote, accusing Titans owner Ingjald Åhlund for assuring him he would vote for the club to stay in the Super Ligan should Schiele agree to gift him Third Baseman Kjellvast Marcusson. Åhlund strongly denied the allegations.
Entering the Super Ligan for the first time next season are Sandford Stad BF, a team playing in a small city located just outside Omfattandestad and Hamnområde Arbetare Baseboll Klub, a baseball team for the dockyard workers of Humoor.
